water baby

I snapped this picture this morning. I love those big blue eyes!!! This totally looks like her future myspace picture...LOL...hopefully she will be wearing more than a diaper and a necklace though...

Today was Madelyn's easter portraits!! She was happy all day, and I even made sure she got a good nap before we went. And when we got there.........she totally turned it off. Which is interesting because ever since she was in the womb she has hated cameras! Everytime we went for an ultrasound we were lucky to get a foot. We tried twice to do a 3d and she never cooperated. It took us a good thirty minutes to get her to open her legs at the 20 week scan so we could know if she was a boy or girl! But I wouldn't have left until I knew anyway, haha. I guess that is just one of her quirks. I think we will still end up with some cute pictures though! She totally harrassed the bunny rabbits and tried to choke them...I don't think we will be getting any bunnies soon!
The one thing that did make her happy though was the big water fountain. I'm telling you, my kid LOVES water! She doesn't care when it gets in her face, she splashes all around, she loves her baths...in fact, here is a video of her splashing all over in the tub. I was seriously getting drenched.

feeling much better

Madelyn has been on the antibiodics for 4 days now. Only one day left, thank goodness! She is feeling much better but now has a horrible diaper rash/yeast infection from the antibiodics. So I have been having to mix Lotrimin and Boudreaux's together and apply at every diaper change. I HATE diaper rash cream...Maddy HATES diaper rash cream...so its not very pleasant. I think she hates it because it feels like she's wet or dirty so she get fussy and expects a diaper change. I hate it because the stuff gets EVERYWHERE. All over her, me, her bed, under my fingernails...ugh. Yuck. Anyway...

Last night we lost power for about an hour and a half. That was not so bad because Maddy was already asleep and I was planning on just going to bed. But then someone kept sounding off the stupid sirens, plus all the thunder going on....and Maddy woke up. And she would not go back to sleep. So we laid in my bed and talked to each other for about an hour...and when she started to get a little fussy I went and rocked her and it took me almost 30 minutes to get her back to sleep. But once I laid her down she stayed asleep for the rest of the night thank goodness because the stupid bad weather and sirens went on for a while.

We had to air out her bottom to help with the diaper rash. So she relaxed and watched TV. This baby loves to be naked.

Lovin on her puppy

awwww

Sooooo I know I have been putting this off for a long time. But I am getting my butt back in school ASAP. I am going to try to find an online program so I don't have to worry about childcare for Maddy. In fact I think I have found one that I have settled on. Just filled out my FAFSA too! So everything seems like it will be coming together....I just hope I can get student loans to pay for it! I am aiming to be back in the summer, if not then, DEFINITELY by the fall. It just depends on how long it takes to get financing, transcripts, all that junk you need for college. Blah. I love being in school....I just hate all the work it takes to get there!!!

Well Maddy is down for her nap so I am going to go lay down for a little bit too. I have this horrible heartburn that came out of nowhere and its killing me!

the mystery is solved!

Well apparently Maddy is not teething (or maybe she is doing that too...idk) she has an ear infection! She was so grumpy and not herself today so we took her to the afterhours clinic here. She was such a good patient...although she did throw up a little when they used a tounge depresser on her...just like her mommy. LOL. Its just a little infection, I'm glad we caught it early! So she is on a low dose antibiodic for 5 days. OH and she weighed 17lbs 10oz. The nurse called her a big girl...is that really "big" for her age? I really don't think so...whatev...

I'm about to go to bed. Mitch comes home in the morning (YES!!) so hopefully he will not be too busy tonight and he can get some sleep...so he can get up early with Maddy and I can sleep in! Ooooooh to sleep until noon....I hardly remember the days.....

So anyway you know I can't leave a blog without pictures!! Here are pictures of my little water baby taking her bath tonight. She LOOOOOVES bathtime.

Doing her leg in the air thing she does.

SMILE! Seriously...she's SUCH a happy baby. I don't know if I could ever have another because she is just the best baby in the whole world.

not again!!

Ok...we are teething again.

My poor baby has been in a MOOD for the past couple days. Crying on and off, generally being in a bad mood. She doesn't want me to hold her or play with her at all. She just wants to sit in her bouncy seat and watch TV. I feel so guilty leaving her there but it is really the only thing she will do without screaming. She gets in a good mood when we go outside but the weather is kind of funky today. So, we are left to watch TV. I just gave her some tylenol so hopefully that will help and maybe I can get her to do something other than stare at the TV.

I pressed my finger on her top gums and she stopped crying...but then she bit the crap out of my finger! Those little bottom teeth are SHARP!

Well anyway...I will leave you with a cute video for today.

Spring is here! Which means pretty weather and....critters....

What have we been up to?? A whole lot of NOTHING! Mitch has been working working working and Maddy and I have been relaxing at home enjoying the BEAUTIFUL weather!! YAY Spring is here finally!!!!

This morning I woke up to Maddy making noise in her crib, and as I got up to go get her I glanced at the clock...9:55!!!! What the heck child! The morning before she woke up at 5am! She did take an extra long nap that day but what is going on with her routine! As much as I hate getting up so early, I do prefer that she wakes up between 8 and 9. If she wakes up any later or earlier our routine gets all thrown off with naps and meals and then she wants to go to sleep either REALLY early or REALLY late which messes the next day up! AHH!

Anyway, here is our adventure of the day. This afternoon Maddy and I went outside to play, then we came back in so Maddy could eat and then nap. Well I put her down and played around on the computer for a little while when I heard our cat, Lilly, meowing at the door. So I got up to let her in and THIS is what I found on our doorstep!!!!

Its a BABY MOLE! GROSS! It was crawling around and being disgusting and I didn't know what to do. I didn't want the cat to kill it which would end up in me having to clean up a bloody dismembered mole mess. Well in reality I would probably demand that Mitch come home and clean it but...anyway. So I threw Lilly inside and proceeded to call my husband and freak out. He basically told me to stop freaking out (um no) and asked if I wanted him to come kill it (um bigger no). So then I looked over at my neighbor Amanda's house to see if she was home and she wasn't, so I texted her and told her there was something furry on my doorstep. So when she got home she came over and we examined it, but by this time I think it had died because it was just laying there....so we poked it with a stick and stuff...but yeah I think he was dead. So Amanda very bravely scooped him up with something and put him in a plastic bag and threw him away. It gives me the heebie jeebies just thinking about it. We were joking about how we should call TLC and get our own reality show "desperate housewives of chestnut st." LOL Seriously the strangest things go on over here!! I also forgot to post about the alien that was walking down the street the other day when my mom and sister were here. Seriously this guy (or woman, I couldn't tell) was walking down the street in a bright yellow skintight hooded jacket, sunglasses OVER the hood, and skintight pants. It seriously looked like something some outer space.

Ohhhh my gosh...how did I ever end up in Mississippi!!!

Anyway....Maddy is getting her Easter Portraits done Sunday. I can not decide what dress she will wear. Well, I think I probably did pick one finally. But here were some of the options.
This one is so cute but is still too big for her. Yeah she was mad when I was dressing her up...sorry baby, but mommy had a girl so I could do stuff like this!!!

Now this one I LOVE because its green and makes her eyes super green. But I think it is too simple for Easter pics.

Again, cute, but I still don't know if I like it for her pictures.

I won't post a picture of the dress that I did choose. You will have to wait and see!!

breakfast scramble recipe

I pretty much just made this up because I love those Jimmy Dean breakfast bowls. Sooo yummy. But they're kind of expensive when I can make the same (or better) thing myself! So here is what I did.

Scramble 6 eggs.

Bake 3 potatoes in the microwave, then peel and chop up.

Cook 12 Hormel Little Sizzlers sausages like it says on the box, then cut into small pieces.

Saute onions, garlic, green and red peppers, and celery in some butter.

Mix all together with some shredded cheese! SO yummy!

So I can't make food look very pretty but I swear it tastes DELICIOUS!

You can probably make this healthier by using turkey sausage, I used the Hormel because they were 10 for $10 at Kroger last week. This makes a lot so you can freeze some for a quick breakfast in the morning. Also this would probably taste really good wrapped up in a tortilla!

lazy post

I'm EXHAUSTED. I think I'm so mentally drained that its starting to wear me down physically. Anyway...
Maddy has been giving us trouble with putting her to sleep lately. She has no problem sleeping once she is asleep, but she's been fighting us on putting her down. Her daddy doesn't understand that if you just let her cry that she will go to sleep eventually and that she HAS to teach herself how to self-soothe. I won't let her lay there and scream or sob...I can tell the difference between an "I want attention" cry and a "there's something wrong" cry. Most of the time she does this screeching like a banchee thing...I dont know whats up with that. But she does it for a while and she WILL go to sleep as long as she's left alone! The past few nights have been pretty stressful but tonight she whimpered and screeched for 10 minutes and then she was OUT. I hope she is learning. I'm crossing my fingers......

Mitch is working SEVEN STRAIGHT DAYS this week. Whaaaaaaaaaaat am I going to do??? My mom is coming to visit tomorrow. But other than that so far (that I know of) its just me and Maddy. I have to keep telling myself....big paycheck....big paycheck!

Other things Maddy is doing: She can pull herself to a standing position from sitting while holding on to my fingers. She can ALMOST sit unassisted...she just needs to work on the balancing thing some more. And she has recently discovered and has become fascinated with her toes.

This is what she does when we try to practice sitting. sigh.Alison and Madelyn from Natalie's 2nd birthday party last saturday. LOL Maddy looks like HELP!Maddy, Alison, and Natalie.Daddy and Maddy reading a bedtime story. Now this is just something she does that I don't quite get. She lifts that one foot in the air for no reason...just leaves it there. She does it when she eats, when she watches TV, anytime you hold her. Silly baby.

I also have another recipe to post tomorrow (hopefully). I can't believe its 9:00 and I'm like barely able to type. I am soooooooooooooooooooo off to bed.

OH, and in response to my last post....I did write an e-mail to the mayor telling him what I think about their breed ban. TWO SECONDS later he e-mailed me back and all he said was thank you. Not hello, didn't put his name, nothing....just two words. I doubt he even read the e-mail. But at least I put my 2 cents in.

Ridgeland, MS breed ban

This is rediculous.

Seriously, it makes me so mad. I could go on about the reasons why but it comes down to ONE thing...RESPONSIBILITY. Any dog can be "dangerous"...my chihuahua has been known to bite when antagonized. Should we ban them too??

I rescued a pit bull from our local shelter when she was about 3 months old. She had been used as bait for fighting and recovered from a drug bust. When she went for her first checkup at the vet, they found out she had a broken jaw. A broken jaw at 3 MONTHS OLD. So she's probably got fighting genes in her and is doomed to be a killer..... right??
Here she is trying to suffocate my mom.

And here she is clearly trying to eat my husband.

Seriously...she is the sweetest, most loving dog. She thinks she is a big baby. The most dangerous thing about her is that she might nibble you while trying to give you kisses. It would KILL me if I had to give her up because someone decided her whole breed was "dangerous." YES there are dangerous dogs out there....punish them. Punish their owners. Don't punish everyone.

And now that I'm good and pissed off...I'm going to bed.

RECIPES!

Here all the recipes everyone has been begging me for. Real blog to come soon...I've been lazy...lol.

Jazz Fest Crawfish Bread

Ingredients:
1 stick butter, softened
1/2 cup chopped onions
1/2 cup chopped bell pepper
1/4 cup chopped celery
1/4 cup dry white wine
1 cup chicken broth or clam juice
1/3 cup prepared roux
1/8 tsp. dried thyme
1/8 tsp. sweet basil
2 bay leaves
2 Tbsp. minced garlic
2 lbs. crawfish tails with fat
1/2 cup ripe tomatoes, finely diced
1 can Campbell's Cream of Shrimp Soup
1/4 cup chopped parsley
1/3 cup sliced green onions
1/2 tsp. Frank Davis Seafood Seasoning (I used Tony's)
1 tsp. salt (if needed) (You WON'T need it. Trust me.)
8 ounces shredded Colby
8 ounces shredded Monterey Jack
1 cup grated Parmesan
4 loaves French bread "Twin Shorties" (I used Sara Lee french bread rolls)

In a large heavy skillet, melt the butter and heat it until it bubbles. Then lower the heat and add the chopped onions, bell pepper, and celery.
Sauté the mixture until the veggies turn limp, but do not let them brown (figure that it should take about three minutes).
Next add the wine to the seasoning base and bring it to a boil.
Then, after about a minute, pour in the clam juice and add to it the prepared roux, thyme, bay leaves, and garlic.
At this point, return the mixture to a boil once again but immediately lower the heat and simmer everything together for about five minutes more or until thickened.
Now add the crawfish tails, diced tomatoes, cream of shrimp soup, parsley, green onions, seafood seasoning, and salt (if needed).
When everything is thoroughly combined, simmer the skillet for about 8 to 10 minutes or until you can pick up the sauce with a fork..
All that's left to do is to slice the loaves of bread lengthwise and sprinkle each half with a thin but complete layer of cheese.
Then place the bread onto a sheet pan and slide it under a hot broiler or toaster oven until the cheese fully melts.
Finally, take the bread halves out of the oven, generously spoon the crawfish sauce down the center of each loaf, then top them liberally with a sprinkling of Parmesan cheese.
Return the Crawfish Bread to the oven one more time, but only until the sauce begins to bubble.
Then slice the "breads" into appropriate individual portions and serve the pieces piping hot.

Monkey Bread

Ingredients:
3 (12 oz) pkgs refrigerated biscuit dough (I used 2 16oz pkgs)
1 cup white sugar
2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 cup margarine
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
1/2 cup raisins (I didn't use the walnuts or raisins)

Preheat oven to 350.
Grease one 9 or 10in bundt pan.
Mix white sugar and cinnamon in a plastic bag.
Cut biscuit dough into quarters.
Shake 6 to 8 biscuit pieces in the sugar cinnamon mix.
Arrange pieces in the in the bottom of the prepared pan.
Continue until all biscuits are coated and placed in pan.
If using nuts or raisins, add them in now.
In a small saucepan, melt the margarine with the brown sugar over med heat.
Let boil for 1 minute.
Pour over biscuits.
Bake at 350 for 35 minutes.
Let cool for 10 minutes. Bread should pull apart.

Success!!

The new nap routine went SO smoothly today! Here is how our day went:

Wake up at 9
Have a bottle
Play
Eat some fruit
Nap at 12:15
Wake up at 2
Have a bottle
Play
Eat some veggies
Nap at 4:30
Wake up at 5:30
Have a bottle
Play some more!
Have another bottle
BED at 7:30!

Also, getting her to sleep has been going well, too. When I put her in her crib sleepy but not completely asleep, sometimes she goes straight to sleep....sometimes she does this screeching thing for a few minutes until she finds her thumb or her paci and then she goes to sleep. She very rarely cries when I put her down...I don't know what is up with the screeching though.

I am going to go drag myself into the shower...I really just want to go to bed.....

naps

So today I am going to work on Maddy's nap routine. I am going to try to get her to take 2 longer naps instead of 3 short ones like she has been.

She woke up at 9am so right now she would be napping. She likes to nap 2 hours after she wakes up. I am going to try to stretch it to 4...feed her and THEN put her down.

Pray for me.....I seriously don't feel like dealing with grumpy/whiny baby today.......

is it bedtime yet?

We have been busy busy busy! Friday was payday, which means it was grocery shopping day, and I was going to go get a pedicure...but Mitch didn't come home until SEVEN hours after he was supposed to. So all we did was grocery shop, get birthday presents, and go home. Saturday we had to travel to Destrehan for my cousin's son's 1st birthday party, then I had to go to my best friend's sister's baby shower, then back to the birthday party, then across the river to a friends house where I got a ton of cuuuuuuute clothes for Madelyn, and then we finally went home!! We were exhausted and Maddy slept the whole way home, and didn't even wake up when we got home and put her in her bed. Whew. Sunday Mitch and I were so tired that we took turns being up with Maddy and taking naps, lol! He got up with her in the morning, then when she went down for her first nap he came back to bed, when Maddy woke up I got up with her and when she went down for her next nap I went back to bed, and then when she was woke up we were like, "Ok, we NEED to get up now!" So we went to eat at Ruby Tuesday's for lunch...then we had steaks and fried mushrooms for dinner! YUM!

Today was a warm day outside, yay! So I sent Mitch to the store to get Maddy a pool. We blew it up and filled it with water and were all set to play....then the sun went away! Ugh! Maddy still looked extremely adorable in her swimsuit though so we dunked her in for a second. She was cold though so she wasn't liking it too much. She loooooooves water. We will have to try again tomorrow maybe if its warm.

Anyway...I'm tired of typing and I'm hungry......here are some pics!

Chillin in the recliner with some toys and her HUGE socks

Big girl teefies!!!
She got her exersaucer on friday and she LOVES it!! She has already learned that she can spin around and she loves to chew on the toys. =)

Birthday boy!! He's one year already!

Since its warm outside, Fiona has been squishing herself between the couch and the window to get some sun...LOL she looks so funny from the outside all squished in there.

We played toys on the floor this morning. See that dress she is wearing? It SAYS 12 mos...I put it on her just to see if it fit bc it looked small to me. And yep, it did.

And last...her 2 seconds in her pool today. She looks SO cute in her swimsuit!!

Well Maddy is waking up from her nap. By the way, who is visiting my blog from Forest Hills, New York?? Just curious...I don't think I know anyone in New York!

5 month pics and stats

Madelyn was not feeling photogenic today. So here are the best pics I could get of her. She now weighs 16lbs 6.4oz and is about 26 1/4 inches, maybe a tiny bit over.

Also... Prunes. Never again.

She does look quite proud of herself there though doesn't she?

Today was blah. I was supposed to get my house clean but...who wants to do that? I could barely keep Maddy clean as you can see!

Our calendar for March is filling up. This saturday I have a party for my cousin's baby who is turning 1 at 1:30 in Destrehan, and a baby shower for my best friend's sister at 2:30 in Norco. Wednesday the 11th I think I have a dr appt in New Orleans. The following Saturday is my neice's birthday party in Natchez. Toward the end of the month is Easter Portraits and Pike County Azalea Festival. We may go check out family day at Edgewood Park the last saturday of March. Also that day is a craft fair in Osyka. I LOVE craft fairs. I hope the weather is nice and Maddy cooperates so we can make it to both! Saturday April 4th is a home and garden show in McComb, we may attend that since we are planning to do some remodeling to the house, and Sunday April 5th is our wedding celebration party at our house. WHEW! I need to go put all this on the calendar in my iPhone before I forget it all.

Also to add to this sort of random entry... A few months ago when I was in the ER and they FINALLY discovered I had gall stones, this nurse gave me a shot of some painkiller. I pretty much always have no reaction to shots but oh my GOD this woman HURT me. She stuck me in my hip and I jumped and it hurt so freaking bad. Anyway, months later, I am still having pain in that area of my lower back/hip. I really think that nurse hit a nerve or something because when I rub where it hurts, it sends tingles down my leg. Now that I have my new insurance (YAY!!) I am going to line up my doctor's visits. I need to go to the dentist also...ugh. I'd rather give birth again than go to the dentist. =(

5 months!!

Happy 5 months to my baby today!! I am going to weigh and measure her in a little while and post her 5 month pics also!!

Yesterday was STILL COLD. We had to get out of the house and do something so we went to the DMV to change my name on my license, and then we went to the library. At the library we met the storytime lady who said the storytime for little babies like Maddy is coming back in April! Depending on what time it is for we will have to try and attend! Also...I had TWO people ask me if she was a boy or a girl yesterday. TWO!! She was wearing blue but come on! Her carseat/stroller is pink and green! I will be ordering bows or headbands or something soon. SO annoying when people mistake her for a boy!

So in celebration of her 5 months, today we are going to try PRUNES! Oh Maddy will be so excited....in fact she is starting to squeal now so I suppose I should go feed her. But here is a video of her eating some pears in lieu of pictures for this post.

Cheese!

How freaking cute is she?!?

Today was a weird day for Maddy. She started to wake up at 7, but I guess she fell back asleep because she got quiet and then I fell back asleep, woke up at 9 and she was making noise and went back to sleep AGAIN, and then FINALLY got up at 10. Even though she slept late, she took an extra nap because she was screaming and the only thing that would settle her was me rocking her. I didn't want her to fall asleep though! So I planned on her being up a little late tonight. But I gave her a bottle at 7:30 and she could barely keep her little eyes open! So after I fed her I laid her in her crib and I haven't heard anything since. I hope she isn't getting sick. Her temp was normal today...and she seemed pretty much herself except for that one little temper tantrum she threw and the extra sleepiness. I'm hoping tomorrow she is back to her normal self and back on schedule! So yeah...Maddy was pretty much in a diaper only all day and I never changed out of what I slept in last night. It was cold outside and we just had a lazy day.

Also Maddy has learned how to scoot backwards. She does it in her crib before I pick her up in the morning...and she does it when she is on her playmat. Today she scooted almost all the way off the thing and onto the floor! I am SO crazy ready for her to crawl. And sit up by herself.
