Thanksgiving #2 and #3

Well, I was sleeping but now I'm up with heartburn so I figured I might as well do this. Friday morning we went out shopping. The mall wasn't as crowded as I expected on black friday, but we only made it through Belk before Maddy had enough. I got two pairs of jeans and some picture frames. Yay! I STILL have not found a Christmas dress for Madelyn. I went to order the one I wanted from JCPenney's and it is SOLD OUT now. Ughh!!! Everything at Belk and everywhere else is too big. So anyway, after the shopping spree we went home and were supposed to go get Maddy's two month shots, but the appointment got rescheduled to next week. So we hung out for a little bit and then headed out to Natchez. My brother came with us because Mitch was planning on going hunting. Well don't you know the minute we get out to his parent's house, it starts pouring and then there are tornado warnings everywhere. They still got to go, but had to wait until all the bad weather was over. Maddy and I took a nap while they were gone. Then we all ate Thanksgiving dinner (#2 for us) and hung out. Some pictures!

Ok so we got back home at around 10 last night, and had to be up at 8 this morning because we had Thanksgiving #3 with my mom's side of the family in Mandeville. Before we left I had to get a picture of Maddy with her giraffe because she is 8 weeks old today!! My big girl!

So I slept almost the whole way to Mandeville, its about an hour and a half ride. I am exhausted from all this running around for the past 3 days. So we got there and ate lunch, then Mitch and I left Madelyn with my family so we could go run to baby Gap to see about a Christmas dress....and of course they didn't have any. So we went to Old Navy next. No dresses, but I got her a cute pair of jeans and two long sleeve onesies. Mitch got some shirts and I ended up going back and getting a shirt and a sweater. Yay for sales! Here are some pics from Thanksgiving #3.

Also, we got our Christmas tree up this weekend!! Unfortunately since its our first Christmas together in the house we don't really have a whole lot of decorations and stuff, so we just have lights (bc its pre-lit, haha) and some red and gold balls. I guess the next thing on my list is Christmas decoration shopping!

Thanksgiving #1

One down, two to go! Yesterday we made the 2 hour drive to Destrehan (my hometown) to have Thanksgiving with my dad's side of the family. Fun as usual, gooooood food, and Maddy was well behaved so it was great. We also got some baby gifts. My dad bought a high chair and we got some clothes and stuff from other family. Score!! She got the cuuuuuutest New Orleans Saints PJs from my dad and his wife. They are PINK and have a matching blanket!! AHH I love it! So then we got home and my sister fed her, then I put her to sleep and she slept IN HER BASSINET from 9pm-1am! She woke up to eat just now and I fed her and put her right back down in her bassinet again and she is still sleeping! Its about 2:15am now. YAY!!!! Either she is really worn out from today or she is getting more comfortable in her bassinet. Now I am trying to decide if I want to go out to the sales this morning. JCPenney's opens at 4, but I don't think the paycheck will have cleared the bank by then, so I may wait and try to hit Belk. I think they open at 5. I am hoping to get myself another pair of pants, maybe a shirt or two, and knock out some Christmas shopping while I'm at it. Then Maddy has a Dr's appointment at 11:15 for her two month shots, poor baby! And then we are venturing out to Natchez for Thanksgiving with Mitch's family. Busy busy busy!! Anyway here are some pics from today's festivities.

Mommy and Maddy on her first Thanksgiving! Daddy had to work. =(

Ready for Turkey Day!

Well the past two days have been pretty crappy. But I feel much better now, still have a cough but its only annoying because it wakes Maddy up when I'm rocking her. Sooo annoying.

Tomorrow we are going to my dad's in Destrehan for Thanksgiving lunch. Friday we are going to Natchez for Mitch's family's Thanksgiving, and then Saturday we are going to Covington for my mom's Thanksgiving. AHH!! Unfortunately Mitch has to work tomorrow so he won't get to come with me to my dad's, but my sister is here so I won't have to drive all the way there with the baby by myself. Thank goodness because she doesn't like to sit in her carseat that long and I don't think I can go 2 hours with a screaming kid.

I found the perfect dress for Maddy for Christmas. I will probably have to order it online from JCPenney's because they never have anything in her size at the store here. Its soooo adorable. Definitely the best part of having a baby girl is all the cute clothing options!!

Today I attached some toys to Madelyn's bassinet to try and keep her a little occupied and it worked for a few minutes. I ALMOST caught a good picture of her smiling but it ended up coming out with her "oh my God look its the camera" face.
Well since my sister is here, I am going to attempt to get myself and Maddy ready for tomorrow. I need to pack her diaper bag and I need to decide what I'm going to wear. I'd like to get my house clean too that way I don't have to worry about it for the next couple busy days. Always too much to do!!!

Supernanny!

So, my recap of last night...I didn't even bother to try to go to bed until about 2am. Maddy went to sleep and I put her in the bed with me, and I settled in to catch up on the 15 NCIS episodes that had accumulated on my DVR. She has been wanting to NAP from 2am-6am lately so I figured I'd be up every 20 minutes, so I might as well not even try to go to sleep. Sure enough, she woke up every 15-20 minutes until about 3. My sister came in the room and was bound and determined to get Maddy to sleep and STAY asleep. Ha....I said you can try but you won't get anywhere. For an hour she rocked her, put her down, rocked her, put her down, and repeat and repeat. Finally she laid next to her in the bed and Maddy went to sleep. I ended up falling asleep and guess what........WE WOKE UP AT 6:30!!!! I gave her her paci and she went BACK to sleep until 9AM!!!!!!!!! Unfreakingbelievable!!! She woke up in such a good mood, she didn't scream while I fixed her bottle or anything. Why can't I put her to sleep like that?! Drives me nuts!! But I was soooo happy for her to sleep for so long!!!

So today we just hung out and watched TV. I even caught another nap when Maddy went back down at around 11. Then I went next door and borrowed Amanda's bouncy seat so I could see if Maddy would like it. Maddy's bouncy just vibrates, the one I borrowed has lights and stuff. So I put her in there and guess what she does! She just wants to watch TV!! Well she could've done that in the bouncy seat we already had...lol!

Finally she started to get somewhat interested and I got a chance to cook lunch. She sat in there for a good while, though, longer than she does in her own bouncy. Yay! I put it on the setting where they have to kick to make it light up, and I don't really think she KNEW what she was doing....but when the lights and music went off, she'd get mad and start kicking. They'd come back on and she would quiet down. lol! I REALLY hope she keeps liking this thing because it will come in handy especially when I'm home and alone and need to use the bathroom or something.

Well she is starting to fuss and its time for her to eat again. I really hope I can put her back in that seat when she's done so I can finish some laundry and get the living room picked up. Oh and here is a picture of her smiling in her sleep from a minute ago. =)

I don't want to be sick!!

Last night I started feeling bad. Madelyn must have picked up on that because she did not want to sleep at all last night. She was awake from 2am-almost 6am. I had really bad heartburn again, plus a sinus drip in my throat and congestion in my head. Madelyn at one point starting her screaming bloody murder again, I felt her head and she felt warm to me, so I took her temp and it was normal. I hope she isn't getting sick too...ugh. I ended up waking my sister up around 5am because Maddy was screaming, my chest was hurting so bad, and I was getting soooo frustrated. She had to rock her for almost an hour to get her to go to sleep. Finally she did around 6 and she put her in the bed with me and we slept for a few hours. I called Mitch this morning and he came home and gave me a shot to make me feel better....but it didn't work at all. So I've been taking Tylenol Cold and praying that I'm not sick for Thanksgiving. I was looking so forward to it!!

Madelyn has been sleeping most of the day, and my sister is still here so I have been able to get some rest for most of today. We didn't end up eating lunch until 3pm...so I didn't end up starting dinner until late. Its still in the crockpot and won't be ready until about 11. Chicken and dumplings...yummy! I can't wait to be back on a normal schedule where you're actually awake during the day and sleep at night! Does that EVER happen?!

WELL this is a boring entry...but today was a boring day. Here's the picture from today. Maddy sleeping on Nanny.

Also, forgot to add, Maddy makes 7 weeks today!!!

stressful day

Ohhh today was not a good day. Its only almost 5pm and I'm so done with this day. Madelyn had an okay night last night, I fed her around 2 and she went back down around 3, woke up at 7, fed her and we went back to sleep till about 9. I had to get up because my 6 week postpartum appointment was today. Ugh...that was a nightmare. I was by myself, which I thought would be fine. But the doctor ended up being an hour late and Maddy was not happy about sitting in her carseat that long, so I'm sitting in the room with the little paper gown on, holding her while she is turning bright red and screaming her head off, and nurses keep walking in there asking if there is anything they can do. AHH!! Anyway, I got some news that is causing a looooooot of stress, but hopefully it is nothing and will all work itself out. But anyway...Mitch and I ended up getting snappy with each other over it all, so he brought me flowers and lunch to make up for it. =) I have a good husband.

But anyway...my sister has been here all day so I got to take a nap when we got back from the doctor. Maddy is WORN OUT from all the screaming she did this morning so she has pretty much napped all day.

Here is a picture from this morning when she woke up to be fed at 2am. Her hair was sticking straight up and I just thought it was hilarious. Not the best picture ever but I was trying to hold her up and snap the picture at the same time.

By the way if anyone who really really loves me happens to be reading this (mitch) I would LOVE this: http://www.blissliving.com/moms-name-charm-necklace.html for Christmas. =)

finally a good night!

Today is actually a pretty great day. Madelyn fell asleep in her swing last night...that is VERY rare!! I put her down and she slept from 11:30-3:30, woke up to eat and have a diaper change, and then went back down from 4:30-8:30!!! YAY baby!! Mitch got home around 7:30 this morning and made me hashbrowns with cheese and onions (my FAVE) for breakfast and fed the baby while I ate. Best husband ever!!! Then we went BACK to sleep and woke up at about 1 and got the house clean and ate lunch. Maddy has been so good today. Of course, because her daddy is home...but anyway, she has been so awake and more aware of things. She loves to look at the picture that hangs above our bed (Les Irises by Vincent Van Gogh), and she still loves to watch the tv of course. Just like her mommy, ha.

Tonight I'm going out to get a drink with Amanda while Mitch watches the baby. Mommy time, I can't wait! We are going to the little Mexican place here, they have the BEST chicken wings...I know that's weird because they are a MEXICAN place, but they are sooo good!! Anyway, here are some pictures from today:

Grumpypants

So Madelyn was pretty much impossible all day. It drives me nuts that when other people are here, she will sleep all day and not be fussy at all. Then when I home by myself, she is so grumpy and wants to be held all day long!! Everyone tells me its because I'm her mommy and she feels safest when she is with me so she doesn't want to be put down. I get that...but how am I supposed to wash bottles, or eat, or even go to the bathroom! I think the reason behind all my heartburn lately is because I can only eat when she naps, so I hurry up and eat so fast before she wakes up. Really she isn't a complicated baby...she is easy to comfort and figure out what she wants most of the time. Its just that 99% of the time, what she wants is for me to hold her! I need to get one of those wraps so I can wear her around and maybe actually be able to get stuff done.

I do have to say though that she is the most gorgeous baby ever! Not that I am biased or anything.. haha. I love her big blue eyes and her hair gets more and more red everyday. And when she smiles....oh it is just the most precious thing in the world. It almost makes me forget that I haven't gotten a shower or a meal all day. =)

Here is a cute pic from today. This makes me wish they made these boppy chairs for mommies...she looks so comfy in it. Granted, she did wake up about 5 seconds after I snapped this picture...

baby smiles

Today was a lazy day. My mom and sister came to visit. We were supposed to go out to lunch and shopping but I was still having really bad heartburn so we just stayed home and hung out. Maddy slept most of the time, I was suprised because she had already slept from about 5am to 10am! Last night she was being cranky, Mitch and I had to take turns getting her to stop crying. I guess she cried so much she just wore herself out. After they left at around 4, Maddy and I went to visit daddy at work to have dinner. Then we came home, Maddy got a bath, and I tried to catch some smiles on the camera but everytime she sees it, she gets so fascinated with it that she stops smiling and just stares!! She has been smiling for about a week now and it is the cutest thing EVER. Here are a few pictures I sort of caught...

She loves to smile especially when she first wakes up, and when she gets her diaper changed for some reason.

Daddy is working an extra day this week so we are just spending time at home. Tomorrow is my house cleaning day. If Madelyn will let me, that is! This weekend we will probably get her first Santa pictures taken, yay!! And next week is going to be so busy. I have two doctor's appointments, one in new orleans, and also my 6 week postpartum appointment, and Maddy has a checkup with her pediatrician (whom I do NOT like...I need to find her a new one..) and then there is THANKSGIVING!! So excited for Thanksgiving food!!!

Well she is starting to fuss so time for a bottle.
