Maddy practicing walking

Maddy practicing walking

Up until about a week ago, if you tried to get her to walk, she just sat back down. One night we decided to practice and she was SO excited that she didn't want to stop! She still won't walk with her walker toy thing but she will holding on to hands. Yay!

I have some random pictures that I may post tonight. Right now we are getting ready to go for Maddy's cake smashing photoshoot! I have a feeling she is going to LOVE this.

Eating Healthy day #1!

I have a new goal of trying to eat healthier. This is the next step in my process of taking better care of myself. I have gotten all my medical issues under control, I am in the process of dental work, and now I will be changing my diet. In addition to this I am also going to be getting my hair and nails done on a regular basis. It makes me feel better so I want to BE better. No more putting myself on the back burner!!!

Before we went grocery shopping this week, I went to eatingwell.com and picked out some recipes that sounded good. A few people have asked for the recipe for the dinner I made tonight, so here ya go! It isn't the exact recipe you'll find on the website, because I omitted some things and changed the cooking method around a little.

Paprika Shrimp and Green Bean Saute

2 cans cut green beans, drained
3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
1/4 cup minced garlic
2 teaspoons paprika
1 pound raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 16-ounce can baby butter beans
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley, divided
Freshly ground pepper, to taste

Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add garlic and paprika and cook, stirring constantly, until just fragrant but not browned, about 20 seconds. Add shrimp and cook until pink and opaque, about 2 minutes per side. Stir in butter beans and salt; cook, stirring occasionally, until heated through, about 2 minutes. Stir in 1/4 cup parsley. Stir in green beans and cook until heated through. Sprinkle with pepper.

I served it over brown rice and it was delish! Very easy to make, too!

new words

Maddy can say the following words. By this I mean she has said them, when I have asked her to say them, but she won't always do it.
*No, no (nuh nuh nuh)
* Cat (Cah)
*Dog (Duh)
*Mama (Meme)
*Dada
*Meow
*Bye Bye (bababa)

I can't believe I forgot to include that on the last post! I'm so proud of her! She is so funny, when she goes to do something she's not supossed to and I tell her no no, she will stick her finger out and say nuh nuh nuh! So silly!

She can also identify "light" and "cat" and "dog." Although she thinks the only light is our light in the living room. If we are not at home she looks at you like, "Why are you asking me where the light is? You know its at home!"

Oh my child. She is something else.

Also wanted to add that I changed my layout! I love it! And I made the header thing with our pictures MYSELF! I'm so proud. It looks good on my screen...it probably looks like crap on someone elses. Oh well. =)

11 month pics and stats

My baby is 11 months old. One more month until her birthday! I can remember when I thought I was going to be pregnant forever, and now my baby is about to turn the big O-N-E! It is just crazy how fast time flies once you have a child. I think I say that every month but it is so true. She is about 23 pounds and 30 1/4 inches. That's only about a half pound and 1/4 inch bigger than last month. I think she has slowed down a little bit because of all the moving around she is doing now.
Our 11 month pictures went about as well as long month's pictures. She hates bows and won't sit still. AH! I did the best I could.

Always trying to pull the bow out of her hair.

Cheesy smile

I love pictures where you can see her teefies!

She was doing wheels on the bus in this picture!

Madelyn has been doing a few new things lately. First, she is now....growling. I don't know WHAT is up with that. She growls out of nowhere just when she is playing, but she also started growling when she is mad! I think she also had her first real temper tantrum the other day. It was so bad I made her go down for nap an hour and half early. She just would not stop whining and crying and growling.

Another thing she has been doing is the wheels on the bus. She kind of waves her arms up and down. She also likes to play patty cake and tap her hands on yours. She can "dance" which basically just consists of her bouncing up and down and shakin her booty, ha. Man I always have so much to say but then when I blog I forget it all!
I wanted to post a picture of her in this cute outfit she had on the other day. You can't really see it too well in this picture but it was precious!
In other news, we have been SO busy lately. We have a ton of birthdays coming up, plus planning for holidays. I am also throwing my BFF a baby shower next weekend. Then Maddy's party will be on Oct. 10th. In addition to that, we are painting our kitchen cabinets! I wish I had a "before" picture on this computer. When we moved into this house, everything was brown brown brown. We had to lighten it up a little! I can't WAIT to get the new countertops, sink, and floors. Its going to look SO much better. Here is a little sneak preview of the cabinets:

I am also painting the trim in the whole house white. So far all I have done is the big window in the living room and the front door. But I am trying not to stress myself out with getting it done in one day. My goal is to have the trim in the living room painted and the kitchen cabinets completely done by Maddy's birthday party. So, I have a little time.

Well I am completely exhausted and ready to go get into bed. Tomorrow always comes way too fast.
